Campaign CRM for Kenyan political campaigns

Your supporter list is the most valuable thing a campaign builds, and the easiest to lose in a pile of phonebooks and spreadsheets. VotePulse keeps every contact in one place, organised by county, constituency and ward, with the consent record attached.

What goes wrong with supporter lists

A typical campaign has contacts in a dozen places: coordinators’ phones, sign-up sheets from rallies, an old spreadsheet from the last election and a few WhatsApp groups. The same person appears four times, nobody knows which ward half of them live in, and nobody recorded who agreed to receive messages.

That is a targeting problem and a legal one. Kenya’s Data Protection Act and the Communications Authority’s rules both expect a campaign to know where a contact came from and whether they agreed to be messaged.

What Campaign CRM does

  • Contacts by ward

Every contact can carry a county, constituency and ward, so lists can be filtered down to a single ward.

  • CSV import

Import an existing list in one upload. Rows without a phone number are skipped and numbers already in your CRM are not duplicated.

  • One record per phone number

Manual entry refuses a phone number that is already in your supporter network, so the list stays clean.

  • Tags and supporter score

Tag contacts (for example “youth”, “boda boda”, “church leaders”) and give each a 0–100 supporter score to prioritise follow-up.

  • Consent on every contact

Opt-in status is stored per contact. Marketing messages only go to opted-in contacts, and STOP replies are honoured.

  • Voter registration status

Record whether a supporter is registered, so registration drives can target the people who still need to register.

  • Protected personal data

Sensitive personal fields are encrypted individually in the database.

  • Search and filters

Find anyone by name or phone, and filter by ward, constituency, county, tag or registration status.

How it works

  1. Import what you have

Upload your existing spreadsheet as CSV. Duplicates by phone number are skipped automatically.

  2. Grow it from the field

Agents register new supporters and volunteers in GroundForce, even offline, and they sync into the CRM.

  3. Segment by ward and tag

Build audiences such as “opted-in youth in Kipevu ward” in a few clicks.

  4. Message and follow up

Send ward-targeted SMS or WhatsApp through Communications, only to contacts who opted in.

What it does not do

We would rather you know the limits before you buy than discover them in the middle of a campaign.

  • VotePulse does not sell or hand you the IEBC voter register. Your CRM holds contacts your campaign collected.
  • Contacts without a recorded opt-in cannot receive marketing messages from the platform.
  • Supporter scores are your team’s judgement, not a prediction of how anyone will vote.

Frequently asked questions

What is a political campaign CRM?

A CRM (customer relationship management system) for a campaign stores supporters, volunteers and voters you have contact with, records how you reached them and whether they agreed to be contacted, and lets you segment them for outreach.

Can I import my existing contacts?

Yes. Upload a CSV file with a phone column and optional name, ward, tags, language and opt-in columns. Existing phone numbers are skipped so you do not create duplicates.

Is it compliant with the Kenya Data Protection Act?

The CRM is built to support compliance: consent is recorded per contact, marketing only goes to opted-in contacts, opt-outs are processed and sensitive fields are encrypted. The campaign remains the data controller and is responsible for how it collects data.

Does it work in Swahili?

Each contact has a preferred language, and message drafts can be written in English or Swahili.
