Polling agent calculator for Kenya
How many polling agents does your campaign need? Choose your office and area to see the polling stations, registration centres and registered voters from the IEBC’s 2022 register, and the agents and supervisors to plan for.
In short: plan for one polling agent at every polling station in the area you are contesting, plus reserves. The 47 counties had 46,096 polling stations at 27,273 registration centres in the 2022 register — an MCA race covers one ward, an MP race one constituency, a county race one county and a presidential campaign all of them.
How the numbers are worked out
- Polling agents = polling stations in your area, plus the reserve percentage you choose, rounded up.
- Centre supervisors = one per registration centre. A centre is usually a school with one or more polling stations (streams).
- Wards to coordinate = county assembly wards in your area, each usually with its own coordinator.
- Stations, centres and voters come from the IEBC’s register of voters per polling station for the 2022 General Election.
Agents must be appointed by the candidate or party, and their details given to the presiding officer ahead of the close of poll. Read the polling agent guide for the legal framework and the result form each agent receives.

Frequently asked questions
How many polling agents does a campaign need?
One for each polling station in the area being contested, plus reserves for agents who drop out. The calculator counts the stations in your area from the IEBC’s 2022 register.
Can a party have more than one agent at a polling station?
Under the Elections Act a political party may appoint one agent for its candidates at each polling station, and the presiding officer admits no more than one agent for each candidate or party. Reserves are people ready to replace an agent, not extra agents inside the station.
Are the numbers for 2027?
They are from the register used for the 2022 General Election, the latest complete polling-station list. The IEBC can add or change polling stations before 2027, so confirm your area’s stations with the IEBC as the election approaches.
Why add supervisors per registration centre?
A registration centre (usually a school) often has several polling stations, called streams. Many campaigns place one supervisor at each centre to support its agents and collect results. This is a planning choice, not a legal requirement.
