When is Kenya's next general election?
Tuesday 10 August 2027. The Constitution fixes the general election on the second Tuesday in August in every fifth year (Art. 101(1)). The previous general election was on 9 August 2022; the second Tuesday of August 2027 is the 10th. The IEBC's website also counts down to the "10th August 2027 General Election". The presidential, gubernatorial and county assembly elections are held on the same day (Art. 136, Art. 180, Art. 177).

Deadlines fixed by the Constitution
These periods run from election day or from the declaration of results, whatever the IEBC timetable says:
- Presidential run-off: if no candidate wins more than half the votes and 25% in more than half the counties, a fresh election is held within 30 days (Art. 138(5)).
- Presidential petitions: filed in the Supreme Court within 7 days of the declaration of results and decided within 14 days of filing (Art. 140).
- All other election petitions: filed within 28 days of the declaration of results (Art. 87(2)).
- Current Parliament: the term of each House expires on the date of the next general election (Art. 102(1)).
Dates the IEBC sets
Voter registration drives, party primary deadlines, candidate nomination days, the official campaign period and the list of polling stations are set by the IEBC through its election timetable and Kenya Gazette notices. They are not fixed in the Constitution, and VotePulse will not publish them until they are officially announced. Follow the IEBC for the official 2027 timetable.
